Artist's Statement
Eastern philosophy with Midwestern pragmatism foster my work. I create content driven abstracts which have an analytical component. Taking artistic risks and provoking my own perceptions through use of diverse mediums meets a need for personal growth. My approach in producing non verbal visual statements resonates from a desire to communicate. I believe the process of creating and viewing art is a form of visual literacy.

My current works evolved from Monotypes, Sumi-e, collage and watercolors. Working primarily with fluid acrylics to create transparent layered paintings and mixed media, I invite viewers to develop their own response to social commentary expressed in a non literal manner.

Recent series have included expressions of issues relating to relationships, the stock market, the environment, disaster relocation, refugees and renewal. “My work reflects transformation and change and allows me to grow artistically and intellectually. I am a passionate arts advocate, curator and collector”.
