Born in the Bronx, N.Y. in 1938, Judith started oil painting classes in 1995 and has developed her own style of abstract expressionism using palette knives for her oils on canvas. She moved to Orlando in and attended classes at Maitland Art Center and Crealde School of Art classes. Her painting reflect order, chaos, planning and conflict as well as the places she has traveled to.
The artist whose work she most admires is Judy Chicago. She also admires the work of Vincent Van Gogh and Jackson Pollock, feminist artists in general and women artists past who struggled to get their art taken seriously.
Vice President of the Women's Caucus for Art, she is a resident studio artist at Orlando's COMMA Gallery.
Artist's Statement
I want my work to reflect the many realities currently facing people: change, trying to make order out of chaos and to control one's own destiny and rebelling against hypocritical forces wanting everyone to fit their "ideal" mold.
Exhibitions
Judith began entering juried exhibitions in 2004. Her work was juried into QAC in 2004 and 2005 and OVAL/WCAFL/WCS Juried joint show 2004. In 2005 her work was juried into the Crealde School of Art's 25th Annual Juried Student Exhibition and the Women's Caucus for Art's National Juried Exhibition "Re-visioning" exhibited at the Maitland Art Center. In 2005 it was in the "Transcendence" Public Art Exhibit at Casselberry, FL City Hall. Her work is juried in 7th and 8th Annual Online International Art Exhibitions in 2005 and 2006. Judith Kaplan had a solo exhibition at the Maitland Public Library in December 2005.

The founder of a toy manufacturer and one of the first women to bring a company she founded public Ms Kaplan was the Small Business Person for the state of Florida in 1985. She is listed in Who's Who directories including Who's Who in Business and Finance and Who's Who of American Women.
Other Interests
Board Member of National Women's History Museum (to be established in Washington D.C) and the Veteran Feminists of America, Judith has been an active feminist since the mid 1960's focusing on the importance of women's history to future generations. She has her own women's history collection, the Kaplan Women's History Collection. From 1976 to 1980 Judith originated and produced the Women's History Series of First Day Covers by N.O.W. N.Y. a series of 150 different women's history collectibles. In 2006 she was honored in "Feminists Who Changed America 1963-1975"?. She and her husband, Warren, have traveled extensively for pleasure and business.
